In 1973, Sam Rayburn Elementary was opened. M. Browning Combs was the Superintendent. The building was an open concept school with few interior walls. Class space was later enclosed during renovations. In 1998, the building had a classroom addition built. This was a result of the 1995 bond election. Joe Tison was the Interim Superintendent. Another addition and remodeling occurred in 2009.
To provide a positive, safe, supportive environment where students succeed in learning. Engaging lessons will enable our students to become life-long problem solvers.
Rayburn Elementary will provide a positive, safe, and secure environment that will empower students to learn while building self-esteem. Students will be afforded the opportunity to experience success and mutual respect which will prepare them to be life-long learners. The Rayburn community will cooperate to produce responsible individuals who are able to adapt to an ever-changing society.
