The
SDFSC Purpose: |
The purpose of the Safe
and Drug Free School & Communities Program is to support public
schools in the development and implementation of education programs
for all students and employees to prevent drug use and violence.

The Safe and Drug Free Schools and Communities
funding provides for prevention programming for students and schools.
Current guidelines for these funds include three ' principles
of effectiveness' that programs must follow. |
The role of the Safe and Drug Free Schools
& Communities Coodinator is as follows:

- Alcohol, tobacco and other drugs consultant
- Accessibility and consultation to students, parents,
staff and community
- Crisis Team Leader
- Suicide assessment consultant
- Child abuse reporting consultant
- Professional staff development
- Presentations on alcohol, tobacco, and other
drugs
- Parent facilitator / educator
- Organizes community events
- Human Coalition Member
- Develop and evaluate drug and alcohol curriculum
and programs
