Primary Purpose:
To
provide social work services at assigned schools and provide leadership and
supervision to district social workers.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Master’s
Degree in Social Work
Bachelor’s
Degree in related field
Advanced Clinical
Practitioner (LCSW)
Special
Knowledge/Skills:
Bilingual
(English/Spanish) preferred
Knowledge
of individual and group counseling skills
Knowledge
and skill in casework methods
Strong
consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students
Knowledge
of prevention and intervention strategies, including behavior management
interventions
Awareness
and ability to access community resources
Knowledge
of appropriate measurements/data management systems and methods
Excellent
organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Ability to observe and
evaluate effective social work practices
Experience:
Five (5) years minimum successful
experience as a social worker
Supervisory/management experience

Major
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct periodic meetings with school social workers assisting in with campus/district issues and arrange for appropriate trainings and staff development (CEUs).
2. Provide leadership, oversight, advocacy, and direction regarding district policies and procedures relative to school social workers.
3. Develop and lead training for new social workers to the district.
4. Assist school social workers in case staffings/studies and provide recommendations in consultations with school social workers and district/campus administration as appropriate.
5. Provide leadership and direction regarding social work data collecting and reporting for district and individual accountability.
6. Serve as college/university liaison for interns.
7. Assist in seeking additional funding sources, including sponsorships, and assist with grant writing as appropriate for additional funding.
8. Provide supervision for and evaluation of social workers.
9. Relate district vision and mission to social workers and assist in developing appropriate policies, procedures, and protocols for school social workers.
10. Conduct group and individual counseling sessions to enhance social development of students and provide peer support in areas such as grief, stress or chemical dependency.
11. Perform casework service with parents to increase their understanding, constructive participation in resolving their child’s problems, and their knowledge and use of available and appropriate resources.
12. Refer students to outside agencies.
13. Serve as a liaison between student, home, school, and community resources, such as family service agencies, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and clergy members. Access and work closely with community agencies to identify resources for student and family support.
14. Make home visits to gather information relating to students.
15. Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine cause of student problems and effect solutions.
16. Serve as consultant to school personnel regarding students or situations that are not referred for direct district or outside services.
17. Assist in the planning and implementation of parent involvement activities.
18. Develop and conduct parenting training and support groups for all parents.

19. Compile, maintain and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents necessary for documentation for appropriate funding.
20. Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, State Board of Education and Board Policy.
21. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
22. Maintain a positive and effective relationship with supervisor.
23. Effectively communicate with colleagues, students, and parents.
24. Review social worker job descriptions and modify as needed.
25. Support social workers in complying with McKinney Vento Act.
26. Oversee program projects including dropout recovery, free lunch applications, and parent involvement conference.
27.
Perform such other duties and assume such other
responsibilities as may, from time to time, be
assigned.
