Local Scholarship Information

A letter to seniors from the Superintendent…

Dear Students,

Congratulations! If you are taking the time to read this letter, it demonstrates that you are taking the initiative to explore your options for pursuing your education beyond your high school graduation. It is no secret that a higher education will better prepare you for our competitive world. I personally know that having an education can take you far and as our marketplaces become more global, it is imperative that you never stop learning.

Inside this scholarship booklet are a number of local scholarship opportunities available in and around our community. I urge each of you to take advantage of this great opportunity and apply for any and all scholarships for which you may be eligible.

I cannot stress strongly enough that you must apply to reap the rewards of scholarship monies. I realize that it takes time and motivation to talk to counselors and fill out applications and write essays, but this effort may well pay off. In fact, did you know that last year’s graduating class received a total of approximately $7.2 million in scholarships. That’s impressive!

We are appreciative to all the individuals, schools and organizations who have made these scholarship opportunities available and we wish each of you continued success throughout the 2009-2010 school year.

Dr. Susan Simpson
Superintendent of Schools
