School Health Advisory Council

The Board of Trustees has established a local School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) which meets a minimum of three times a year to assist the District in ensuring that local community values and health issues are reflected in the District’s health education instruction. SHAC members are parents, District employees and community members appointed by the Board with parents comprising the majority of the committee.

Wellness Policies

  • Policy EHAB (LOCAL) ensures that students in grades 1 through 6 engage in at least 30 minutes per school day or 135 minutes per school week of physical activity.
  • Policy CO (LEGAL) ensures compliance with applicable vending machine and food service guidelines for restricting student access to vending machines.
  • Policy DH (LEGAL), FNCD (LEGAL), GKA (LEGAL) and the Student Code of Conduct prohibit the use of and prescribe the penalties for the use of tobacco products by students and others on school campuses or at schoolsponsored or schoolrelated activities.
