The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the 2010-2011 District budget. This budget is approximately $230,990,811. The proposed budget provides for those items necessary to fund the District’s instructional programs for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. The budget will allow the District to continue to provide the programs necessary to provide our students a quality education. The budget includes the District’s debt service requirements and Food Service budget.

The proposed budget provides for a teacher, librarian, nurse, counselor, etc. base pay raise and a 1.5% of midpoint raise for auxiliary, paraprofessionals, and campus/central administration; unless a salary adjustment was provided. The District will maintain the $301 per employee per month contribution to the health insurance.

The Board of Trustees unanimously approved a tax rate of $1.4650 for 2010-2011. The tax rate includes $1.04 for the M&O (Local Maintenance Fund) and $0.425 for the I&S (Debt Service Fund). This tax rate is the same as the current tax rate.

Grand Prairie ISD now has an official page on Facebook. The Communications & Community Relations Department has established the page, where news releases, photos, videos, and links to other articles related to the district may be shared quickly with Facebook users interested in district events and activities. Facebook offers another opportunity to share staff and student achievements with the community. News items submitted for publicity with the Communications & Community Relations Department may also be posted on the Facebook page. Staff are encouraged to become a fan of the official Grand Prairie ISD Facebook page and encourage other Facebook users who may be interested to do the same.

Please be aware, the Grand Prairie ISD internal computer network blocks Facebook and other similar social media websites because of the limited instructional value and risk of student exposure to inappropriate content. Staff members who use Facebook are encouraged to become fans of the district's Facebook page and view its contents outside of work. With a growing fan base, the page will help create another viable method for sharing district news, especially the positive achievements of staff, students, and the district as a whole.
