  • Bad Weather Make-up Day - April 3

    The “Bad Weather Make-up Day” for GPISD will be Friday, April 3.

    The District will have classes on that day. Waivers have been filed for
    the other two days missed due to inclement weather. If those waivers
    are approved, the District will not have to make up those days.

  • Blue Bell Issues Recall
     
    Blue Bell has issued a recall on
    some of its products due to listeriosis.
     
    As a precaution, we are putting safety first and removing
    all Blue Bell products from our serving lines.

Powell Announcements

  • Fifth grader, Kennedie Dyer and fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Garcia were recognized by the Keep Texas Beautiful Campaign Tuesday night at the Grand Prairie City Council meeting.  Kennedie was presented with the Ruthie Jackson Youth Leadership Award - Honorable Mention for her part in creating the Recycling Club at Powell Elementary.  Mrs. Garcia and the "Powell Clean Team" were presented with the 3rd Place Sadie Ray Graff Educators and Educational Institution Award for their work last year.  Many entries were submitted from all over the state of Texas!  Kennedie is the daughter of Tara and Shawn Dyer.  We are Palomino PROUD of them!!!

  • Powell Elementary has won big again this year in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Classic Art  Contest!  Over 2,500 students enter this contest in the North Texas every year and Powell has a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Place and 2 Top 10 winners across 3 Divisions this year.
